Well guys, it's been a fun ride, but InkTober ended today. I guess I subconsciously tried to drag it out longer or something by waiting super late in the evening to upload it, but I finally dragged myself to the scanner and put it up. I hope you all liked it, and I must say I was happy with the last illustration. (As a note...that last one was kind of a hodge-podge of nerdiness and a dash of the banner I've yet to release for Aces. Yeah.) Hope the next project turns out just as good as this one!
I don't know if I'll be updating things quite as much during November, as my next art project definitely won't be an every day thing. I will be putting up an area for requests/suggestions for it though, and I'll be talking more about what I'm bad at. Hope you guys enjoy this one too! In other news we almost lost out indoor cat tonight. But we found her. Phew. So yeah...that's...pretty much it. Have any questions or anything? XD -Lissie Dixon ♠

I'M SO BUSY!!! Utterly swamped. Carved pumpkins this evening, so my arms are like the spaghetti noodles we had for dinner, and also drove a truck in high heels. Yeah, I'm totally overwhelmed, right? I actually am. It doesn't seem like it, to me or probably to you guys, but yeah!
Anyway, I do still find moments to sneak away from the bustle to work on my artwork, though most of the time it's not until later in the evening. Today was a good example of that, seeing as I just got today's InkTober uploaded about five minutes ago. It's 9:53 now. Yeah. So, I've got a commission to work on tonight, then...stuff. I really need to make myself a schedule, but I'm too lazyyyyy! Tomorrow is the last day of InkTober, which I have mixed feelings about. It'll be nice to have more time to work on other projects, but I was really having fun with it. At least I know what kind of project I'll be doing throughout November! Though that one might take the backburner while I finish up Aces #1. Gotta have it ready to start releasing in January, right? I need to have a vote to see what day of the week I should publish it on. I have a few ideas, but I 'd like feedback. I'll probably start a little survey or something for that a little later tonight... Goodnight, everyone! I have STUFF to do! And juice to sip at. And Whales crackers to munch on. And snacks. Yeah. -Lissie Dixon ♠ I'm sure you're all clamoring for this week's edition (Addition? Either works, actually...I'm adding one, but they're also exclusives to each week...so...edition/addition?), but there's been a few setbacks and it won't be released until tomorrow. Many apologies! I've just been...eh...kinda down in the dumps. And busy. Very, very busy. And rather unmotivated. So yeah. It's still coming, but it'll be late. I'll try to not let that happen anymore.
InkTober is going to be over in just a few days. I stopped accepting submissions today, because I didn't want to get any and not have a good prompt to go with them. Maybe I'll open up a request area for just regular drawings? I dunno. I've already kinda got next month's art project planned, though. It won't be nearly as constant as InkTober has been I don't think, but it's more important to my growth as an artist. I'll be focusing on drawing architecture, furniture, food and...pretty much everyday objects. So yeah. That's kind of exciting...right? Maybe I'll take submissions for little things to draw. It'd be good practice. So, with that I leave you! Hopefully once we're into November I'll be able to further A Collector's Work, because...let's be honest, there's nothing interesting there at all right now. I need to do an introduction for my favorite dolls, then I can go onto the fun stuff, like geeking out over the new Marvel Legends figure waves and various adorable (and neat) dolls I find. Won't that be great? Wait, don't answer that--I already know it's gonna be great. That's all for now. See you tomorrow! -Lissie Dixon ♠ Haven't decided how I feel about that. It's really fun, but at the same time it wears me out. Haha, mostly it's just hard to find time to do the drawing! I've been very busy lately, not to mention today I woke up feeling...meh. I've continued to feel more or less meh all day. Hope I'm not coming down with anything. That'd be a bummer.
Anyway, I've been working on today's InkTober. A lot. But it's still far from being done, so...I'm taking a wee break. This last bit for InkTober should be interesting--the prompts are all very...unique. I don't even know what I'm going to be doing for some of them! Sorry if anyone tried to get onto the site yesterday. I know it went down during the afternoon. I have no control over that unfortunately, as Weebly, the hosting site I use, was down as well. Basically you go to Weebly.com to log in and edit your site, and you can't do any alterations on the site itself. Well...Weebly.com and Godsentcomics.weebly.com were both down. No idea why, but I did get an email mentioning that "An unauthorized party obtained email addresses and/or usernames, IP addresses and encrypted (bcrypt hashed) passwords for a large number of customers. Encrypted passwords are difficult to read or decode, and we do not believe that any customer website has been improperly accessed."...I think they mean they got hacked big-time. At least there's not much that could be messed up if my site were to be hacked. I shouldn't say that, should I? But yeah. Hopefully that won't happen again. Anyone else find those online dress-up games hindering their progress? Like the ones on Rinmarugames.com? I find them incredibly distracting. Heh. They're fun. :] (AND DISTRACTING! Yes. I have one up right now and am flipping back and forth between writing this and playing it. I need to stop.) So yeah. That's about it. Hope everyone liked this week's Wizard's Game Night, though I uploaded it a little late. I need to be working on the next few, but I'm just so lazyyy~ But I also need to be doing artwork for the little thing I'm going to be adding below the WGN comics. It's gonna be a little introduction to each of the characters. A bio, I guess. Yeah. -Lissie Dixon ♠ That short absence can be explained quite easily: Driving with my instructor. My, it makes me feel so busy!
Another reason (excuse) is that I'm getting used to the new laptop I got! Okay, well, the thing definitely isn't new. To date it a bit, it boasts that it was designed to run Windows XP, which they stopped providing support for about three years ago. Yeah. Thankfully the fantastic person (who I will not name, mwahaha!) who gave the laptop to me got it running on Windows 7. Much better. I have dubbed the device Delbert, named after the unforgettable Doctor Delbert Doppler from Treasure Planet. Don't ask why--I'm an impulsive person. Anyway, Delbert isn't for using the internet (Being that it's rather difficult and straining on him), and definitely for my writing. I love to type up stories, and having my own laptop to do that on? Amazing! I actually really like that it's older. It makes me less inclined to surf the web when I should be writing. Weird, huh? But that's pretty much exactly what I wanted. I'm so happy with it. c: So, in other news...I've officially done all of the requests I've received! I felt like I had more than I did. Anyway, if anyone who's already had a request wants to, they can suggest another idea. If not...guess I'll be doing some of my characters! I certainly don't mind, but it's a little difficult to decide who to draw. When I have an idea of what other people want to see, then I can choose much faster. So yeah! Submit requests! Drink orange juice! Read your Bible! Do the thing! Also, please continue to pray for my father. He's still unwell. :c -Lissie Dixon ♠ I'm happy to announce I just uploaded today's InkTober--and it was the first request illustration I've done! A dear friend of mine (You know who you are!) requested Luke Skywalker, and I was eager to do him. Unfortunately since I was out most of the day I didn't get to spend as much time as I wanted on him. I think he turned out pretty good though. It might've helped that I was listening to The Force Awaken's soundtrack. S'mah jamz now. Okay, sorry for that random bit there.
I'm looking forward to drawing the other requests, which sound like they'll be quite interesting projects! I'll have to look and see what my upcoming prompts are. I've still got about seventeen, eighteen days left of InkTober, so more requests are welcome! I'll definitely do them, as long as I know what I'm being asked to do! It might help to include what series a character is from if you request them, just so I get the right one. Wouldn't want me drawing Marvel's Hawkeye if someone asked me for Riza Hawkeye, now would we? Or if someone asked me to do Captain Marvel. There are like, three Captain Marvels, being the classic Marvel Comics one, Carol Danvers, then Shazam!. Gotta be careful, you know? So, with that I leave you! It's been a busy day, and now I'm tired. Wait! Before I go...I'd appreciate some prayers for my father. He's having some kind of an ear infection or something and isn't well at all. We've kind of figured out what it is (Meaning my mom), but that doesn't really help at the moment. He'll recover no doubt, but it always helps to have some backup prayer. -Lissie Dixon ♠ P.S. I think I'll start signing off with that spade. It holds special meaning for me. I hope you've read it and enjoyed it, though it's a bit short. It basically is introducing them...and establishing that Saruman doesn't want them there. At all. Their names? Alatar and Pallando. This is Alatar. He's gruff, but a good soul. And this is Pallando. He's pretty expressive, though a smidge shy.
And there you have that! The Blue Wizards will be recurring characters from now on, alongside Gandalf, Saruman and Radagast. Exciting, isn't it? I get to make these two up on my own! Their appearances--well, Alatar's appearance, was based off a couple illustrations from other artists. Unfortunately in all the illustrations I couldn't hardly tell the difference between them, so I had to make some alterations to Pallando for identification purposes. I hope you all like what I've come up with, and what I will come up with. Best wishes, -Lissie Dixon The folks over at About Time Comics finally got back to me.
"Hi Lissie, It was very considerate for you to contact us about using Godsent Comics. We don't have any problem with it at all. Our character is Godsend, so there should be no confusion. When I first created Godsend, I met a creator with a comic called Godsent, similar name, different story and concept, so there was no problem with it. I wish you the best of luck with Godsent Comics and can't wait to see what you come up with! Lee Jiles" So that's pretty cool. I was surprised to see that when I opened my inbox tonight! In fact, I was just settling down after finishing the colors on WGN #3. I think I figured out how I'm going to do the comic from now on too. I'll talk more about that in tomorrow's blog post, because...I'm so irregular on these things. I like to talk a little about whatever I've uploaded that day. Speaking of uploading I really need to get the Meet the Doll Crew post up on A Collector's Work. Unfortunately I'm a busy bee and a procrastinator, so...heh. Really what I need to do is take pictures of my favorite dolls and edit them a little, then make an enormous post about them. I'm really excited to introduce my girl Autumn though! She's the first custom doll I've ever made, and though she's far from perfect I like her. I haven't finished with her by a long shot either, so I'll talk about the journey of finishing her on the second blog too. In other news I'm happy to say that I've gotten three InkTober requests! Since there are still about 18 days left in the project, I'd be thrilled to do them all. In fact, I'm about to go get a little design reference for 'em, which I'll either put on my secret InkTober Pinterest board or save onto my flash drive. Either way, s'gonna be cool. The youth event went wonderfully, and at the end I got a snickerdoodle and confused a friend's mother by my comic talk. That was fun. I should probably finish up with what I'm doing, then get to sleep. I'm exhausted, but I always have more to do. If I have time I want to start on a barbie face-up tomorrow, which I have dubbed Project Freya. Whoever winds up with her (hopefully someone will buy her) can choose if they want to rename her or keep the project title. Freya seems like it'd suit her--at least in the face design sketches I've done. I'm wondering if I should make/get clothes for the doll, or if I should just sell her without any. Maybe I'll just make her a towel or something. I kind of like the idea of including at least a little bit of clothing for the darling though! Anyways...*yawn*...goodnight! I know, I'm sorry...I just really like talking. -Lissie Dixon Well, I'm up extra late working on WGN #3: Don't Break the Ice/The Return of the Blue Wizards. And listening to Jump5. And replying to messages, some personal, one from a blog comment. Ai. I'm tired...but excited, too. Tomorrow I have a wonderful event I will be able to attend, which is put on by many of the local churches. It's basically something where all the young peoples gather at a football field and listen to testimonies, a youth pastor, and get to sing a bit along the way. It was just started last year I think, but had a surprisingly large turnout. I was thrilled to be part of it.
Anyway, I also have to start going driving with my instructor on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Starting this Thursday. Eep! I'm kind of nervous, honestly! Any confidence I had in my driving went--poosh!--out the window after a couple trips. Now I'm half convinced I stink. But that's okay. I just have to pick myself up and keep truckin'. Haha, car joke. So, in other words, I'm busy. Very, very busy, for me at least. I've still got some spare time before I go to sleep to work on whatever I didn't during the day. I'll have to cram tomorrow to get WGN #3 done though, 'cause I won't have any time on Thursday. At least I finished (Almost) page 11 of Aces. Speaking of Aces, I've been thinking that #1 should probably be called #0 instead. It's really more a backstory issue anyway, but the only problem is, it flows straight into the next issue. #0 issues are usually less direct than that. I'm deliberating a lot, if you couldn't tell. So! You might have noticed when you were visiting this blog that there's another, titled A Collector's Work. Well, that's my secondary blog for my doll and action figure collecting stuffs. There will be a ton of stuff added to that this weekend...I'm hoping. I have content, but it's a matter of having time to edit it and get it uploaded. It takes a long while to upload photos on here, actually.Whew. So, I should probably finish up on here and get some shut eye. I've got a busy few days, and chances are I won't get as much sleep as I'll want. Being a lot. I really like sleeping. -Lissie Dixon I was out and about most of today, then spent the rest of it chilling at home with my fabulous family. That explains the lateness of today's InkTober addition, huh? Anyway, the whole weekend is going to be packed. Tomorrow I have a (probably) full day planned, complete with a small-town market, local shop-hopping and probably terrible dad jokes and group puns. The next day has a similar plan, though it'll be a shorter day, seeing as the market ends fairly early. I think. Anyway, we don't usually stay at Sunday's markets that long--we just walk around a bit and look at the antiques and old stuff people have for sale. It's interesting and enjoyable though. Don't worry though--I'll keep up with InkTober, even if it means working later than I prefer! (Meaning uploading them past 7:00 in the evening, which is...kind of when they usually get uploaded to the site anyway)
Anyway, my life always gets busy this time of the year. I mean, who doesn't have gobs of stuff going on these few months? October starts getting kind of stuffed, then comes November, then that blurs into December, the most wonderful time of the year--and most void of free time! I'll have to work every free second to get Wizard's Game Night ready, along with working on prepping Aces for launch. I'm hoping for a January launch, actually. What I'll probably do is get almost all of it ready with simple colors (Which can be improved later on by a better colorist than I, hopefully), then start releasing a page once a week until I've released all 22 pages in the issue. Then who knows how long it'll be before the second issue? I'm still working on penciling the thing--which, mind you is very dumb. I shouldn't divide my focus like that. I should just concentrate on getting #1 inked, remastered for digital and colored. Please bear with me on this whole endeavor, as I'm not very good at the whole Photoshop thing still, as I keep mentioning. That's because I'm kind of wheeling for someone to PLEASE HELP ME!!! I'm actually terrible at good coloring and Photoshop work. I would be over the moon if someone could teach me how to operate my Elements better--or even take over the coloring for a little while. I need to stop begging so much...someday people will probably/hopefully start following WGN (What I will be referring to Wizard's Game Night as from now on...at least in my Blog posts, because the whole title is really long to type out), and others Aces and more different people keeping up with Tumble--or even other comics I might (Aherm--will--hrkhrk) write--and then I'll almost certainly be able to find some assistants or colorists. But srsly I need help pls -Lissie Dixon |
